A Purple Spacer

We've framed up this print of Jericho in Oxford by Mavis Burley today. As with yesterday's framing post we've used a colour spacer to compliment one of the colours in the piece and on this occasion we've used a simple oak frame to finish things off. :-)

Queline Taylor

A gorgeous abstract by Queline Taylor in for framing today. We've used a grey hand painted frame with a double mount and red spacer which echoes the colour of the work and give us the depth needed for the glass to clear a bead that forms part of the work.

You can find more of Queline's work at http://www.jacquelinetaylor.co.uk/

Rachel Woodruff

Here we have a beautiful selection of pastel works by artist Rachel Woodruff.

We've framed each one in a different style so Rachel can test out various options with some of the galleries she's working with. At the top we have a hand painted frame with double mount, on the right a chunky black frame with single mount and for the piece of the left, we've used a slightly smaller black moulding and floated the artwork over a grey mount.

All very different styles of framing but the artwork shines in all of them. You can find more of Rachel's artwork at http://users.ox.ac.uk/~anat0155/inpictures.html

A Norman Hayes original

Following on from Mr Hayes's exhibition earlier in the month we've had this lovely purchase in for framing. We've used a silver/gold frame that echoes the colours of the wall in the background, and shows off this beautiful water colour to its best :-)

Framing a Persian Rug

We've framed up this amazing Persian Rug this week, a real joy to work on, the detail is incredible and it's so finely stitched...and heavy :-)

We attached the rug to a canvas backing and were then able to stretch that over a frame allowing us to float the piece within the yellow tray. That was in turn framed in an aquamarine frame. You can't really see in the photo, but we chose the yellow and aquamarine to echo some of the background colours in the rug. The finished result looks really beautiful :-)

Tapestry part two...

Here's the tapestry all framed up. There's quite a bit going on behind the scenes in this one, so I'll try and do a more detailed explanation of how it's all put together at a later date (need sleep now ;-))

We've used a deep oak frame with a double mount, birch over vanilla...unusually sensible colour names in this instance :-). Really shows the piece off well :-)

Tapestry

Just pinning this tapestry, it's now all ready for the back to be laced. This allows us to get an even tension across the piece, keeping it straight and flat. Off to build the frame now, I'll show you the finished article tomorrow when I've assembled all the pieces :-)

Certificates

Very busy in the shop this week, making a new display wall for our framing samples (more on that when its done). Back to the main task at hand though today, here we have a set of A4 frames made up for a customer that needs to put certificates in themselves. We've used a bendable fitting on the back that allows them to open them up and a classic mahogany coloured frame with a gold highlight should show off the certificates perfectly. Well done to everyone that receives one :-)
