Gesso

Here are some of the frames that we're working on this week. They're all going to be coated with gesso, which gives them a beautiful smooth finish. We've assembled the bare wood frames today and mixed some rabbit skin glue up ready to size them tomorrow, they should then be ready for 'many' coats of gesso on Friday. :-)

Clockwise from the top left we have a frame for a comic book cover, a frame for my nephews UK bedroom ;-) and a frame for an artist whose work is heading off for exhibition in a London gallery, so they wanted some extra special...an eclectic mix as always :-)

Calligraphy

Two beautiful text based pieces in for framing recently.

Some Philip Larkin poetry which has been beautifully written out, we used a double mount with an oak frame on this one

And a gorgeous cut out piece which we mounted on board and then triple mounted in a black frame. A really lovely piece :-)

Sports Shirt

A signed Arsenal shirt that we've mounted and framed. We've used Suedette mount board for both the blue background and the main red board as the brushed cloth look works really well with materials like this shirt. A chunky black frame finishes everything off nicely :-)

Some Nic Vickery originals

A couple of originals by artist Nic Vickery here, a beautiful tree and landscape which we've framed in oak, with a double mount. And a stunning pastel stag which we've made a handpainted frame for and then floated the artwork over the mount board. A gorgeous picture :-)

Artist Lihua Yuan

Here we've framed up two beautiful botanical watercolours by artist Lihua Yuan. We've made an inner slip to match the gold frame and then added a double mount and Artglass, all of which sets off the artwork to maximum effect :-)

Old Photos

We've been working on these photos this morning, the top one came in the beautiful antique frame and needed a bit of tidying, cleaning and a new mount. The one at the bottom we've made in a similar frame and added an oval mount as the original photo was an oval. Both are really fascinating images to look at and now have lovely period style frames to show them off :-)
